The State Academic Philharmonic of the Akimat of the city of Nur-Sultan was created on the basis of Akmola Regional Philharmonic in 1997. In a short time, the team deployed a multilateral concert, music and lecture activities aimed at widespread propaganda of high achievements domestic and world musical culture.

Today, the Philharmonic of the Kazakh capital is one of the leading concert and educational institutions of the city, where there are 11 creative groups: Kazakh orchestra, symphony orchestra, brass band, string quartet, chamber choir, folklore ensemble “Saryarқa”, Folk Dance Ensemble “Shalkyma”, Ethnic Ensemble “Korkyt”, Classical and Variety Department vocals, Department of Traditional Folk Singing, Variety Dance Ensemble "Alem".

 The pride of the metropolitan philharmonic society is its soloists, outstanding musical figures of Kazakhstan: artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurzhamal Usenbaeva; Honored Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mayra Ilyasova; Honored Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yernar Myntaev, Aitkali Zhayymov (also Knight of the Order of Parasat), Aigul Kosanova (also Knight of the Order of Kurmet), Bibigul Zhanuzak, Azamat Zheltirguzov, Altynay Zhorabaeva, Gulzira Bokeikhan; Knight of the Order of Kurmet Abdurasul Yesekeev; cultural figures Nurai Tanabaev, Arailym Rakhymkizi, Kunsulu Turlybekova and others.           

 To preserve the best traditions of musical culture, the Philharmonic Society has collaborated and is collaborating with leading performers and conductors of foreign countries: Russia, Germany, Poland, USA, Latvia, Israel, Slovenia, Greece, Italy, etc. (Krzysztof Penderetsky, Vladimir Ashkenazi, Alexander Tchaikovsky, Denis Shapovalov, Saulius Sondeckis, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Lara Fabian, Sumi Joe, Denis Matsuev, Vladimir Krainev Rinat Salavatov, Benjamin Yusupov, Robert Canetti, Anastasios Pappas, Robert Gutter, Maxim Vengerov, Marco Skyavo et al.).

 Recent successful creative collaboration - participation of the Symphony Orchestra in the International Festival “Festival Des Orchestres Du Monde” (“Festival of World Cities”) in September 2019. The metropolitan team Philharmonic became the first domestic orchestra at this event. Musicians invited famous French conductor Philippe Yui.           

 The Philharmonic hosts jubilee concerts of prominent world-famous artists and composers of Kazakhstan. The participation of all philharmonic groups in projects dedicated to especially significant anniversaries has already become a good tradition. So, to the 45th anniversary of the popularly beloved film “Angel in the skullcap” (dir. Shaken Aimanov), a concert of the same name was held with the participation of philharmonic artists and actors starring in the lead roles (2013). The Big Terror gathered together the artists of the concert organization to hold an evening in memory of the innocent victims of the repressions of the Stalinist regime (2017) and others. The Kaiyaya Shapkan Karager program was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Ospan Batyr; “Men Sayyemin Khalgymdy” - the 135th anniversary of Kenen Azirbaev, “Mukhamedkanapiya. Segiz serі ”- the 200th anniversary of Muhamedakanapiya, etc.           

 With the participation of the Symphony Orchestra, large-scale musical canvases were performed - the operas Carmen by Georges Bizet, Aleko by Sergei Rachmaninov, Tales of Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach, Aisulu by Sydyk Mukhamedzhanov, Kurmangazy by Akhmet and Gaziza Zhubanovyh.           

 Harmony and coherence, the beauty of the timbres of young voices, the professionalism of the Moscow Philharmonic Chamber Choir was noted more than once at international competitions and festivals. This metropolitan team was entrusted with the opening of the large International Festival “Astana is the Voice of the World” with the participation of more than 500 people from 25 countries. Artists perfectly feel choral compositions, which is emphasized by different construction drawings or interesting gestures: the Moscow Philharmonic Choir must not only be heard, but also seen!           

 Many charity events are held by the Philharmonic for socially vulnerable groups. Every year, groups give concerts in nursing homes, orphanages, children's rehabilitation centers, clinics, and correctional institutions. Pensioners and people with disabilities at the Philharmonic are allowed free admission.           

 The artists and the leadership of the State Academic Philharmonic of the Akimat of the city of Nur Sultan gladly supported the idea of ​​holding a flash mob # Abai175. Continuing the modern tradition of the popular challenge, the metropolitan team set a kind of record for the number of participants: more than 700 artists participated in the action. Today it is the largest event dedicated to the anniversary celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abay.
